Jess Bush announces the end of her run playing Nurse Christine Chapel on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Production of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' fifth and final season is winding down in Toronto. Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, and Martin Quinn all recently wrapped, as well.

Paramount+ renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a shortened 6-episode season 5, which is the final season of the series. Filming of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 wrapped in summer 2025, and those 10 episodes are expected to premiere in 2026 on Paramount+, with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 following in 2027.

On her Instagram, Jess Bush commemorated her series wrap on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds by sharing a slew of behind-the-scenes photos. Jess is an exceptionally talented conceptual artist and photographer, and her BTS pics are a heartwarming glimpse of the good times she had with her fellow castmates and the crew of Strange New Worlds. On Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Jess Bush portrayed the younger version of Nurse Christine Chapel, a role created for Majel Barrett-Roddenberry in Star Trek: The Original Series. Strange New Worlds gave Bush's Chapel more depth, complexity, and nuance than 1960s Star Trek allowed Majel's Christine.

In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' three seasons thus far, Nurse Chapel pursued a romance with Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck), but left the Vulcan Science Officer and fell in love with Dr. Roger Korby (Cillian O'Sullivan). Chapel is also an exceptional, genius-level medical officer beyond her 'love stories in space' on the Starship Enterprise.

Beyond acting, Jess Bush is a multi-talented artist who designs her own line of jewelry, creates innovative art installations, and has worked with NASA advocating for responsibility and the role of art in outer space exploration. Bush became one of the most popular performers on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and left the Nurse Chapel character better than she found it.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds may be ending production, but there are still two seasons and 16 episodes to come. What happens next to Nurse Chapel as Star Trek: Strange New Worlds builds towards setting up the start of Captain James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) taking over the USS Enterprise remains to be seen.
