Perhaps one of the most anticipated superhero films for the next few years, Matt Reeve's The Batman: Part II promises to bring back Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader in an all-new crime caper. The DC film's cast is rounded out by Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Sebastian Stan, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
According to Pattinson, the film's release is inching closer and closer, with filming starting very soon. "I did another movie called Prime Time, then I’m doing another one," Pattinson told GQ. "And then, basically the second I finish this, I start doing Batman 2." Though he did not get into the specifics of when he was filming, the Twilight star said "I know I’m working basically ’til November next year.”
During the interview, Pattinson also joked about his on-set musical antics while working on The Batman, revealing that he made "tons and tons of ambient electronic music." The actor continued by setting the scene:
There’s a video that’s my favorite…. I was in a tent the whole time, basically, whenever I was on a break on Batman, and I’ve got my headphones over the bat ears, and I’m making electronic music on MPC with my vape, done up like Batman. With the cowl on! It was so difficult to get the cowl off, but I got the headphones over the cowl. There was a period where I thought I was going to release that. You have to decide who you want to be in this life, you can’t be everything.
While Pattinson didn't offer any quips about whether he'll make music on The Batman: Part II set, his comments offered a substantial update on when the film enters production. Previously, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav stated that filming would begin in spring 2026, but did not give specifics.

Following several delays, the film has been confirmed for an October 2027 release. Reeves turned in his and Mattlin Tomson's script to DC Studios in the summer of 2025. In response, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn described the story of the film as "great."
For his part, Reeves shared his excitement as well as that of Pattinson. "We’ve started to share it with Robert; Rob was super excited," Reeves said last fall. "We feel like we can reach farther and do even more than we did in the first one. And, I’m really excited to get back together with everybody that we made the movie with."
"We put [the script] into a secret pouch that literally has a lock on it with a code," he continued. "[Pattinson] was in New York at the time, and everything is high security. We really trust Rob, because he’s the best."
The Batman: Part II releases on October 1, 2027.
