NCIS: Origins will wrap up its first season with the upcoming finale on April 28, and fans can already take a breath knowing there’s more coming from young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell). The show follows the agent as he begins his career in the Naval Investigative Service that operates out of Camp Pendleton. Kyle Schmid also stars as Special Agent Mike Franks, and Mariel Molino costars as Special Agent Lala Dominguez. CBS decided before the conclusion of Season 1 that NCIS: Origins had been renewed for Season 2, and during a recent interview with CinemaBlend, co-showrunner David J. North recalled getting the news that the series was being renewed, which came while they were still filming parts of Season 1:
“She called us one morning together and gave us the great news. We couldn't have been happier, and what a wonderful experience to then be able to go to the historic Paramount lot where we shoot and walk down, and in between setups, we were able to tell the cast and crew, which was just a real highlight of my life.”
Mark Harmon kicked off the original NCIS series in 2003 as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, but after his departure in 2024, he no longer holds the title for the most episodes in the series. In fact, he falls to third; Sean Murray stands alone at the top after appearing as Timothy McGee and Flashback Spencer Downing in 470 episodes of NCIS, and David McCallum holds the silver medal with 459 episodes as Donald "Ducky" Mallard. There’s a 50-episode gap between Harmon and the fourth-place competitor, Brian Dietzen, who has suited up as Dr. Jimmy Palmer in 386 episodes of the hit procedural series. The space between Dietzen and the fifth star on the list, Rocky Carrell, is much smaller, as he’s appeared as Leon Vance in 377 episodes, a feat made even more impressive considering he didn’t make his debut until 2008.
Where Is ‘NCIS: Origins’ Streaming?
After new episodes of NCIS: Origins air on CBS, they begin streaming on Paramount+ the following day. Episodes 13-16 are also streaming for free on Tubi, but fans without access to either service can rent or purchase the episodes on VOD platforms such as Prime Video. However, purchasing the entire season of NCIS: Origins currently costs $24.99, which is less than a subscription to Paramount+. Also included in the Paramount+ subscription are thousands of other shows and movies, including access to all of Taylor Sheridan’s projects except Yellowstone. Movies like Gladiator II and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are also streaming on Paramount+.
