After Tulsa King, This 78% RT Taylor Sheridan Show Needs A Spinoff

Now that Tulsa King has a spinoff, this Taylor Sheridan show has to be next. Taylor Sheridan has become the primary content producer for Paramount+, and the streaming service has essentially given him the reins to build his shows out as he pleases. This includes numerous upcoming Yellowstone spinoffs.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Tulsa King would be the next Paramount+ title to franchise, with a spinoff called NOLA King in the works. This spinoff is being developed with Samuel L. Jackson set to play the leading role, bringing yet another exciting veteran actor to Paramount+'s TV lineup.

Taylor Sheridan Can Build Landman Into A Franchise Like Yellowstone

With Yellowstone and Tulsa King developing into multi-show franchises, Landman seems like the perfect candidate to come next. The series instantly became a top performer for Paramount+, with Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Ali Larter, and many more outstanding actors killing it with the signature Sheridan dialogue.

The show incorporates many of the elements that made Yellowstone such a hit, but does so in another setting that makes it feel fresh and exciting. While the world of the Texas oil industry might not seem like something that requires a cinematic universe, Yellowstone and Tulsa King prove there's merit to this type of franchise.

Landman Killed Off Its Best Spinoff Character (& Set Up A New One)

The best part about Jon Hamm's character, Monty Morris, was that his scenes felt perfectly relevant to Landman but also seemed like they could've been a different show. It'd be difficult to think of a better description for what would make for an ideal spinoff. Unfortunately, that ship sailed with Landman season 1's ending.

There are some other candidates who could make for compelling spinoff leads, but I think the only truly promising one would be Demi Moore's character. She barely had anything to do in season 1, but her recent Oscar-nominated role in The Substance might prompt Sheridan to rethink her character.

Cami Miller didn't seem to have much business savvy in season 1, but it could be played off that she was hiding her prowess. Since Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris is on the ground-level of the oil industry in Landman, having a spinoff focused on the big city tycoon drama could be excellent.
