It’s not unusual for some main characters to be missing from episodes of Tracker season 2 when their storylines aren’t necessary. However, Bobby (Eric Graise) has been away in Tracker season 2 for far too many episodes, and the reason for it has been suspicious. The good news is that fans saw the hacker return in Tracker season 2, episode 16, hinting that he is sticking around in the series.
Of course, now there are questions about where the foundational Tracker character has been and why he was gone for so long. Reenie (Fiona Rene) was the one who talked with him on the phone to get an update, but it’s not quite the full story that we would like. There is clearly a potential storyline for Bobby coming up, and now it’s just a question of what that storyline could be and how Colter (Justin Hartley) will fit into it all.
Bobby Finally Returns After 7 Weeks In Tracker Season 2, Episode 16
Bobby Has Been MIA Since Tracker Season 2, Episode 10
Many originally questioned where Bobby was in Tracker season 2, episode 10, when he was surprisingly missing when Colter called for the hacker’s help. Instead, Bobby's cousin, Randy (Chris Lee), answered the phone, offering the same support that Bobby did. While we had hoped it would just be a one-week absence, as has happened in the past, Bobby's disappearance turned into a much longer storyline.
It took seven episodes, but Bobby finally returned in Tracker season 2, episode 16. Randy called Reenie to offer an update on Colter’s whereabouts and shared that Bobby was back, putting the phone on speaker so that Reenie and Bobby could talk about where our favorite hacker has been and how he has been doing. Of course, the conversation quickly moved on to how Randy had changed Bobby’s setup, and he needed to fix it to get it back in order.
Why Bobby Was Previously Absent In Tracker Season 2
Randy Offered Updates About Bobby’s Off-Screen Status
When Colter first learned of Bobby being away in Tracker season 2, episode 10, Randy explained that Eric Graise’s character was dealing with some family stuff. Rather than leave Colter without hacking help, Bobby asked Randy to step in. It initially sounded like it was meant to be just a one-off absence, but then it continued. By Tracker season 2, episode 15, Colter asked for an update on his whereabouts, with Randy explaining Bobby was attending a dear friend’s funeral.
It's curious that the reason for Bobby being away changed, unless he counts his dear friend as being family. Randy did say at one point that the friend was “like a brother” to Bobby, which suggests that Randy was trying to respect Bobby's privacy and that relationship with the initial explanation. The initial reason also didn’t make much sense when Randy stepped in to help, considering Randy is Bobby’s cousin, although this could be explained by it being on the other side of Bobby’s family. The changed explanation led to some concerns that Eric Graise wouldn’t return to Tracker, but Randy’s words that Bobby would be back soon helped calm some of those nerves.
What's Next For Bobby In Tracker Season 2
Bobby And Randy Will Share More Screen Time
Bobby is back, and it looks like he is sticking around, considering he spent the whole episode putting his workshop back the way he likes. However, it also looks like Randy is also sticking around, as he continued to help Reenie with Colter throughout the episode. In fact, in an interview with TV Insider, Rene shared that she was looking forward to seeing Graise and Lee working together, which suggests that both will be around in Bobby’s shop for some of this season.
Randy is definitely around for Tracker season 2, episode 17, and it looks like Colter and Bobby will help Randy with a situation involving his ex-girlfriend, Megan. This will allow the two hackers to continue working together, seeing more of that friendly banter between them. It also offers Bobby someone to lean on as he grieves the loss of his friend, allowing for personal development for both of the hackers.
This still doesn’t explain if there is something more to Bobby’s storyline, but it could develop before CBS' Tracker season 2 finale. Bobby told Reenie that he was just taking each day as it comes, making it clear that he is grieving his loss. If the death were due to something suspicious, he could turn to Colter for help to get to the bottom of it, or we could see him attempt to handle the situation alone, leading to Randy calling Colter and Reenie for help. With only four episodes left in Tracker season 2, there isn’t a lot of time left, but it could make a worthwhile episode.
