Emily Blunt, the star of the horror sci-fi franchise A Quiet Place, has talked about the third film in the series and offered the most substantial update we've received aside from the several postponements of the original release date. Blunt is close to the project, given that she's the main star of the series and the partner of creator John Krasinski. This has given her insider access to A Quiet Place Part III, and per the actor's comments, the sequel is still very much in development.
The actor appeared on the Take Ten series for Deadline, where she talked about her recent role in the sports biopic The Smashing Machine alongside Dwayne Johnson. Taking some questions, Blunt had to talk a bit about A Quiet Place Part III, the sequel that would (in theory) see her return as the widow who must lead her children in an epic battle against aliens that are super sensitive to sound. When asked if she's excited about Part III, Blunt remained coy, but at least offered the following answer:
"Well, I'm excited about everything right now, because John is currently in his monastic writing cell. Just dreaming it up. And he has barely told me anything. So, I'm excited about all of it, really."
'A Quiet Place Part III' Is Officially Still in the Works After a Few Setbacks

Originally, A Quiet Place Part III was not supposed to take so long to come to fruition. Part II was highly successful, considering it was released during a time when audiences were still getting used to the new theatrical experience after the COVID-19 pandemic. It grossed almost $300 million, and proved there was still juice in the horror sci-fi franchise created by Krasinski in 2018. Nevertheless, Part III didn't follow. Instead, Krasinski went ahead with a prequel spin-off.
Fortunately, the writer/director was right in twisting things around with the timeline. A Quiet Place: Day One was a huge hit based on the original concept, but featuring entirely new characters who experienced the alien apocalypse from, well, day one. The film was one of the highest-grossing films of 2024, and also one of the most acclaimed by critics in 2024's horror offer.
A Quiet Place Part III is currently still set for release on July 30, 2027. However, the project has been in the works for so long that it wouldn't be surprising if Day One got a sequel before Part III. For now, the film is still in development, and Krasinski is set to return as writer and director. The casting is still yet to be confirmed, although Blunt will surely return to play Evelyn Abbott, but who will be joining her is something we can only wait to find out, as much will depend on Krasinski's proposal for where the film takes place in the original timeline. Stay tuned for more updates.
