Jensen Ackles’ 75% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Drama Gets a Big Season 3 Update in New Set Video

The Tracker team is here to wish fans a big hello from the set of the CBS procedural’s third season where cameras are currently rolling. Taking fans behind the scenes, the show’s Instagram page acts as a way for audiences to transport themselves directly onto the studio lot in Vancouver, Canada, where the gang is getting busy with the next chapter of the story. Welcomed by none other than Colter Shaw himself — Justin Hartley — multiple members of the Tracker family step out of the shadows to give followers a grandiose hello. With Fiona Rene as our guide, we take a stroll around the lot, and catch a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of the 75% Rotten Tomatoes series.

It appears as though when we reunite with Colter Shaw and the rest of the characters behind Tracker, we’ll do so on a somber note, as the set was transformed into a hospital for day one of filming. A blink and you’ll miss it moment reveals Abby McEnany’s Velma Bruin to be donning a hospital gown, which could point to tough times ahead for one of the team members. Meanwhile, a side video shows Jensen Ackles’ Russell Shaw making a return in the third season, as the Supernatural alum sits outside his trailer and addresses viewers. More sneak peeks depict the Shaw brothers (Hartley, Ackles) back in action together — something audiences absolutely can’t wait to see in the new season.

And wait they won’t have to, as showrunner, Elwood Reid recently told us:

“Jensen addicts are gonna get a double dose of him this season. And I ain’t gonna make you wait for it. I love writing for Jensen and I think whenever he and Justin are on the screen it just works. He’s so busy I have to bargain with him to get him on the show. But I think he’s an important part of Colter’s story, and he’s able to give the audience another perspective on their childhood. Plus, the two of them together are a blast.”

Also, in our conversation with Reid — which was part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event — we learned plenty about how things will pick up after that Season 2 cliffhanger, with the showrunner explaining,

“We pose several questions in the season opener that will reverberate throughout the season. It’s not just who killed his father — something we revealed in the finale — but what drove his father to ‘lose it’ — what dark forces were at play that pushed Colter’s mother to come to the conclusion that she felt she had to leave him to save the kids and her own sanity. Colter will put the pieces of that together this season."
