The future of The Purge franchise has been uncertain since its last installment in 2021. However, a sixth movie might debut sooner than most viewers expected.
After five films and a short-lived TV series, The Forever Purge left the franchise in an ambiguous state by eliminating the traditional rules of the event. This puts the story into a world where violence has no expiration date. The change expanded the storyline, allowing future films to explore the unraveling society in real time instead of being confined to just one night. While the four-year hiatus has raised concerns about whether the series will continue, recent comments from the producer imply that it will.
In an exclusive article from ComicBook.com, producer Brad Fuller said that discussions about a sixth film are currently ongoing. The creator of the original film, James DeMonaco, is also involved in the creative process. Fuller has expressed his enthusiasm about returning to the Purge franchise with DeMonaco.
Fuller added that having the person who started it all would be really helpful when it came to crafting the upcoming Purge 6. The producer also revealed that the fans could see familiar faces. He has hinted at Frank Grillo, who plays Sergeant Leo Barnes, returning to the franchise, as well.

It would be the last of the last of the last, it’s like the guy who keeps retiring. James DeMonaco is going to direct it, if it happens, and it’s a matter of money. It’s a matter of how big they want the movie to be, how much money they want to spend on the movie, considering they’ve done a lot in this franchise. But it’s a great script.
Although no official production timeline has been confirmed, DeMonaco is reportedly developing a script at the moment. This could potentially mean that The Purge 6 is more than just an idea at this point. So, it might be only a matter of time before fans will see the newly expanded universe on the big screen again.
