As the show looks to finally be staying on track, the first CIA trailer has arrived for the FBI spinoff series.
With just over two months remaining until its premiere, CBS has released its CIA trailer. The video introduces Tom Ellis as Colin Glass, a case officer for the titular law enforcement agency, as he finds himself reluctantly partnered with Nick Gehlfuss' character, Bill Goodman, a by-the-book FBI agent, to investigate a variety of threats in New York City. Check out the action-packed trailer below:
CIA's gripping, fast-paced trailer opens with Bill putting Colin through a lie detector test. Throughout the preview, the two throw snarky comments at each other in between clips of explosions and shootings. The sneak peek concludes with the show's protagonists shaking hands, seemingly accepting the fact that they'll be stuck working together for the foreseeable future.
The upcoming CBS crime drama is set to debut Monday, February 23, 2026. The show's debut will follow the flagship show, FBI's season 8 return. The show will also feature Necar Zadegan as the CIA’s Chief of Station and Natalee Linez as an analyst alongside Ellis and Gehlfuss.
CIA was officially announced by CBS on April 22, 2025. The spinoff was in development in January 2025 and was initially supposed to launch as a backdoor pilot (an episode of an existing TV series with the purpose of introducing new characters and a new premise) within an episode of FBI.
However, the network's plans changed after the series suffered many delays due to both cast and crew members seemingly backing out at the last minute. Michael Michele, who was replaced by Zadegan, left in early November, and just days later, the original showrunner, Warren Leight, also left. FBI's production schedule stayed on track and eventually wrapped, while CIA was in the process of recasting and looking for a new person to helm the series. As a result, CBS was forced to scrap its original idea.
CIA will debut on February 23, 2026, at 10:00 PM ET and 7:00 PM PT on CBS.
