Tracker Season 3 Premiere Image Reveals First-Look At Jensen Ackles’ Return

A new image of Tracker season 3 reveals Jensen Ackles' return as Russell Shaw. Ackles is juggling a number of different projects. The fan-favorite actor, who broke out as Supernatural's Dean Winchester, will return for the fifth and final season of The Boys. He'll also star in The Boys spinoff Vought Rising, as Soldier Boy, in addition to headlining the action drama Countdown.

In addition to his work on the three different Prime Video series, it's been confirmed that Ackles will head back to CBS to reprise his role as Russell Shaw in Tracker season 3. As the older brother of Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw, Russell will be dealing with some major revelations.

TVLine has revealed the first image of Ackles' as Russell in Tracker season 3. Along with the photo, included below, which focuses on the Shaw brothers standing together, it's confirmed that Ackles will appear in both parts of the season 3 premiere:

Russell has appeared in two episodes of Tracker so far, with one in each season. His next appearance, according to the logline of the premiere, will center on Russell and Colter joining forces to help track the missing wife and daughter of a client for Reenie (Fiona Rene). However, the brotherly reunion gets them involved in a sinister underground operation known as The Process.

Ackles' return to the hit crime drama comes after Tracker season 2 finale, which reveals that Colter's mother, Mary Dove Shaw (Wendy Crewson), was the one who arranged for his father, the seemingly paranoid Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen), to be murdered. If this is entirely the truth, considering that Colter learns it from a glorified hitman, it potentially changes everything.

It also raises additional questions because, early on in the series, Mary attempted to drive a wedge between the Shaw brothers. There's the broader question of why she would want to ruin things between the brothers, who manage to mend their relationship, along with why she would want her husband dead in the first place.

Tracker has lost all of its supporting cast, except for Rene returning as Colter's potential love interest. Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany, and Eric Graise have all departed the series, and it's unclear how CBS intends to address the latest absences of McEnany and Graise.
