The SAG-AFTRA Foundation just gave film fanatics and casual pop culture lovers the ultimate gift. The non-profit organization is officially opening its high-security vault, releasing decades of rare, deep-dive celebrity interviews that have never been seen online until now.
While the internet has long obsessed over the foundation’s modern YouTube interviews with stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, and Rami Malek, fans are losing it over the news that years of Hollywood history is about to drop. The organization is rolling out its highly anticipated Legacy Collection, consisting of archived episodes that are already starting to cause a major stir across social media.
Unlocking Hollywood History One Episode At A Time
The collection is broken down into three star-studded themed seasons. The rollout kicked off with the Emmy Winners group, which just dropped a powerhouse interview with the legendary Viola Davis.
Fans on X and TikTok are already sharing clips from the newly uploaded footage, amazed by how candid these Hollywood heavyweights are when talking to their peers. New episodes are scheduled to drop every single Monday and Thursday at a.m. PT.
The lineup reads like an absolute dream for anyone who loves entertainment. Fans can expect to see streaming debuts from icons like Henry Winkler, Jessica Walter, Peter Dinklage, William Shatner, Edie Falco, and Jean Smart.
From The Vault To The Internet
The fact that these videos are even seeing the light of day is a miracle in itself. The Legacy Collection is the brainchild of Rochelle Rose, the foundation’s national director of performers programs, who spent a decade saving the footage from outdated physical media.
“Ten years ago, we embarked upon a major project to preserve, digitize and back up this collection, which for years prior, were recorded on a variety of different formats,” Rose noted.
The sentiment perfectly mirrors a famous quote from Helen Mirren, who once praised the program by saying, “It’s only here that you have a true history of acting — it’s through these Conversations.”
Why Everyone Is Obsessed With The Relatable Relevancy
Even though some of these tapes were recorded all the way back in , Rose revealed that the struggles of Hollywood stars have remained exactly the same. No matter the decade, these global superstars all end up talking about the exact same things: terrible auditions, set secrets, and mental health.
“Everybody talks about auditioning and the audition process. A lot of fun stories come out of actors’ auditioning experiences,” Rose shared, adding that the stars frequently open up about “having resilience through the lean times.”
Following the current Emmy Winners block, the foundation will debut the Icons season starting September , featuring timeless legends like Farrah Fawcett, Dennis Hopper, and Tippi Hedren. The final block, Oscar Winners, kicks off November and features everyone from Kathy Bates and Rita Moreno to Christopher Walken. With a brand-new facility called the Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists opening up in Los Angeles soon, the ongoing conversation surrounding the craft of acting is clearly just getting started.
