Get ready to scream, because the Deadites are officially back — and they’re bringing a whole new meaning to “family drama.”

Warner Bros. sent chills through the crowd at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, debuting the very first footage of Evil Dead Burn. While the rest of the world has to wait to see the trailer, the lucky attendees inside the room are already calling it a “blood-soaked masterpiece” that takes the legendary horror franchise to terrifying new heights.

The viral buzz started almost immediately on X (formerly Twitter) as descriptions of the “extra disturbing” footage began to leak. Fans of the franchise know that Evil Dead doesn’t do things by halves, and this latest installment seems to be doubling down on the gore.

The presentation was hosted by the always-charismatic Patton Oswalt, who warned the crowd that they were seeing an “early look” with “rough shots.” But even with unfinished effects, the message was clear: this movie is going to be intense.

The trailer features plenty of the franchise’s signatures — think chainsaws, buckets of blood, and fingers being hacked off — but it’s the emotional hook that has everyone talking. The film’s chilling tagline, “Family is the root of all evil,” sets the stage for a story that is as psychological as it is physical.

In one standout moment from the teaser, a voice hauntingly whispers, “My sweet boy, I would give anything for us to be together again,” followed by a sarcastic, bone-chilling toast: “Cheers to your perfect family.”

Social media users are already losing it over the casting, which features Wednesday breakout star Hunter Doohan alongside Souheila Yacoub and Luciane Buchanan. “Hunter Doohan in an Evil Dead movie? Take my money now!” one fan posted on TikTok.

Directed by Sébastien Vaniček — the mastermind behind the buzzy spider-horror film Infested — Evil Dead Burn has some big shoes to fill. It follows ’s Evil Dead Rise, which became a massive viral hit and raked in $ million at the global box office after pivoting from a streaming-only release to a theatrical run.

The legendary Sam Raimi, who created the original classic, is back as a producer alongside Rob Tapert. And of course, it wouldn’t be Evil Dead without the “King” himself, Bruce Campbell, serving as an executive producer. While Campbell famously retired his character Ash Williams from the live-action films, his DNA is all over this new production.

The Evil Dead universe is actually expanding faster than a Deadite infestation. Evil Dead Burn is just one of two films in the works, with Evil Dead Wrath also currently in development.

For those ready to face the gore, you won’t have to wait long. Evil Dead Burn is slated to hit theaters on July .

Consider this your official warning: start practicing your chainsaw skills now. As the trailer says, “Cheers to your perfect family” — just don’t expect them to stay that way for long!
