The Girl of Steel just proved she’s a total bada! DC Studios took over CinemaCon at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas this week, and let’s just say Milly Alcock isn’t playing a typical superhero.

In a thrilling new look at Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, fans were transported away from the pristine streets of Metropolis and onto a “dirty, dusty, and bumpy” interplanetary bus. This isn’t your grandmother’s Sunday drive; Alcock’s Kara Zor-El is seen brawling with tech pirates and terrifying spider droids in a sequence that has already sent X (formerly Twitter) into a meltdown.

The footage reached a fever pitch when Kara is seen being sent spiraling into the cold vacuum of space. TikTok is already flooded with side-by-side comparisons of Alcock’s gritty performance to her breakout role in House of the Dragon, with fans praising the “raw and grounded” energy she brings to the DC Universe.

This iteration of Supergirl is based on Tom King’s acclaimed comic book series, illustrated by Bilquis Evely. Unlike the traditional “shining light” persona, this Kara is a hardened traveler on a mission of vengeance.

The story follows Supergirl and a young alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley) as they hunt down the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts) across the galaxy. The stakes? Ruthye’s father was killed by Krem in cold blood, and Kara is helping her settle the score.

Of course, the biggest buzz in the room—and on social media—revolved around the appearance of a certain intergalactic bounty hunter. Jason Momoa’s Lobo was featured in the teaser, confirming that the Main Man is ready to bring some chaos to Kara’s journey.

Milly Alcock is already addressing the pressure of taking on such an iconic mantle. Speaking on the potential for fan backlash or critiques of the genre, she recently noted, “Not every film is for everyone,” signaling that this project is aiming for something unique and perhaps a bit more mature than previous outings.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and produced by DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, the film is building on the massive momentum of last summer’s Superman. Fans will remember Alcock’s brief but memorable cameo in the Fortress of Solitude during that $ million blockbuster.

Rounding out the star-studded cast are David Krumholtz as Zor-El and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze. With its blend of sci-fi grit and emotional weight, Supergirl is shaping up to be the must-see event of the summer.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow flies into theaters and IMAX on June . Better buckle up—it’s going to be a rough ride!
