The apple certainly doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to drama, but Amelia Gray is carving out a path that is uniquely her own. The -year-old model and daughter of Hollywood royalty Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin has officially made her acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s latest Hulu thriller, “The Beauty,” and fans on X and TikTok are already losing it over her “explosive” performance.
For Gray, joining the Ryan Murphy universe was a full-circle moment. “My household was a real Ryan Murphy household,” she shared, recalling Tuesday nights spent watching “Glee” and “American Horror Story” in her parents’ bed. Landing a role directed by Murphy himself for her first gig was, in her words, “really crazy.”
A “Sick” Viral Audition
In a moment that feels peak “model-off-duty,” Gray revealed she almost skipped the audition entirely. While working in Paris and battling a high fever, her mother, Lisa Rinna, alerted her to a casting email.
“The description said, ‘Supermodel, extremely ill, but still looks good,'” Gray laughed. “I was like, ‘Oh, fuck, I gotta do that. I don’t know if I look good, but I’m definitely sick as fuck.'” She shot a one-take self-tape on her iPad in a Parisian hotel room and, four months later, the role was hers.
In the series, Gray plays a victim of “The Beauty,” a lethal youth treatment. Her scene features her violently attacking characters played by Ben Platt and Meghan Trainor before—spoiler alert—literally exploding. While she did most of her own stunts, she drew the line at a window-smashing scene with Trainor. “I had the Met Gala two days later,” she explained. “They’re like, ‘The glass might get all over you.’ I was just like, ‘Ah, no, I’m gonna go.'”
The Truth About Lisa Rinna and ‘The Traitors’
Beyond her own career, Gray is dropping major tea about her famous mother’s recent stint on “The Traitors.” While fans loved watching the “RHOBH” alum play the game of deception, Gray says the psychological toll was very real.
“I saw what that also does to a human being… having to lie and deceive for however many weeks or months,” Gray noted. “That does something to your brain.” When asked if Rinna was different after filming the reality competition, Gray didn’t mince words: “She needed some healing time, for sure.”
Despite her family’s reality TV roots, don’t expect to see Amelia holding a diamond anytime soon. “It’s never happening,” she insisted regarding a return to the “Housewives” world. “You can tell people to stop approaching me about them. I’ve had enough.”
Keeping It Real on Plastic Surgery
Amelia has also become a voice for transparency regarding beauty standards, a major theme in her new show. She shut down rumors of lip fillers, attributing her look to “SkinVive” moisturizer injections instead.
However, she was incredibly candid about a “medical emergency” reconstruction surgery following a botched breast augmentation she received while younger. “I was dating somebody who was older than me… and I sort of allowed his beauty perception to affect my choices,” she revealed. The situation became so dire that the implants began pressing on her nerves, leading to a grueling -hour reconstruction.
What Is Next for the New Star?
While she is currently consulting fellow model-turned-actress Kaia Gerber for advice, Gray is taking her new career one step at a time. After spending hours shooting a three-minute scene, she has a newfound “amount of respect” for the craft.
“I’m very grateful for my job,” she said. “I’m just not sure it’s my life yet.” Whether she stays on the runway or moves permanently to the silver screen, one thing is for sure: Amelia Gray knows how to keep the world watching.
